My work is drawn from slides taken during photo shoots on-site in
people’s homes and places of work. Some images are used as the basis
for a painting or drawing, and some stand alone as photographic images.

Portraits 1999 to 2001

The bold colors of my paintings seek to capture the vitality of
everyday life, while my process of applying the paint in many
thin glazes give them a sense of depth and three-dimensionality.

Artists Biography

I was born in France and educated through out Europe and the eastern United States. I
chose moved to Philadelphia because of the “multi-cultural aspects of the city” and to
attend the Pennsylvania Academy of The Fine Arts. In 2000, I graduated with a Masters
of Fine Arts in Painting.

In 1997, I created The Painted Portrait Project to learn how to paint people. Within a
year’s time, the project morphed into painting portraits of gay people living life. Over
the years I have explored many facets of interest in portraiture. This summer of 2005 I
have begun a portrait series of “Two Degrees of Separation” with in Philadelphia. This is
a portrait project of all the people I know in this city and beyond.
